Beydaglar Mountains Coastal National Park starts from the Sarısu Region of Antalya, follows the first mountain range running parallel to the Mediterranean Sea and extends to Cape Gelidonya in Kumluca district. Declared a national park in 1972, the area measures 31,165.88 hectares. The young Beydağları, which form the Western Taurus Mountains, are mainly composed of serpentine and limestone.
Featuring a very rich plant diversity, the red pine forests in the coastal areas of the region give way to cedar and larch forests as they rise. In the national park, there are nearly a thousand plant species such as mastic tree, sandalwood, laurel, rosary, wild olive, which are endemic to the park and grow only in this region.
Beydaglar Mountains Coastal National Park is home to many animal species. In addition to land mammals such as bears, wolves, foxes, wild goats, lynxes, squirrels, porcupines, there are also predators such as king eagles. Rarely, Mediterranean monk seals can be observed on the coasts. 3 species of endemic butterflies live in the park, and the Lycian Salamander is one of the endemic species unique to this area. Tekirova and Çıralı coasts, where Caretta Carettas lay eggs, are under special protection.
The park, renowned for its beautiful natural beaches and bays, is home to rich flora and fauna, as well as ruins that shed light on history. Located in the ancient Lycian region, the national park includes the ancient cities of Idyros, Olympos, Phaselis and Chimera (Yanartaş), the unquenchable fire of Lycia. Adrasan Harbor and Gagai are also must-see historical settlements.
