Lara Beach, one of the two most famous beaches of Antalya along with Konyaaltı Beach, is located in the east, about 15 km from the city center. It is said that the name Lara means ‘sand’ in the Hittite language and the word ‘beach’ is said to have come into Turkish from the Hittite language.
The beach fascinates its visitors with its eye-catching coastline stretching for 2 km in the east-west direction and its nature surrounded by pine trees.
The beach, with Karpuzkaldıran Beach to the west and Kundu and Kumköy Beach to the east, is famous for its calm deep blue sea especially in the morning hours, warm waters, shallow depth and golden fine sand. For this reason, families with children and those who are not confident in swimming also prefer Lara Beach.
Stretching 45 meters in the north-south direction, the beach has points where the sands recede 150 meters to the north in places. In these parts, the intertwined sands and red pine trees create unique landscapes. While the coastal part of the beach is crowded with people who want to enjoy the sea, sand and sun, picnickers or people camping with tents and caravans are often observed in the areas covered with red pine forests.
