The procedure to eliminate edentulism is called complete dental implant treatment (dental implant surgery). During procedure, 8 dental implants are inserted into upper jaw and 6 into lower jaw. Figures may be lower depending on the extent of procedure. Dental implant surgery involves multiple steps, including:

How is Complete Mouth Dental Implant Treatment Applied?

First, patients are examined by an oral maxillofacial surgeon. Upon examination, treatment method is determined. The intraoral and bone structure of the person is observed with the examination and X-ray. If there is no problem, treatment starts.

In the first examination and X-ray, patient’s intraoral condition, bone structure and condition are observed. If intraoral condition and bone structure are suitable for implant treatment, then the procedure starts. Bone powder application (bone grafting) is performed in patients with jaw bone resorption. Implant treatment is started 6 months after this application.

Apart from this, people with any chronic health conditions must refer to their doctor first. After consultation or treatment, dental implant insertion phase starts. Local anaesthesia is administered during thast phase. Cavities are opened for the dental implant to be placed in the bone and after the dental implants are placed in the opened cavities, they are closed by suturing. Dental implants heal in about 3 months. At the end of this period, the screws of the dental implants are unscrewed and dental impressions are taken for the dentures. According to these impressions, the dentures are placed on the dental implants and the application is completed.
