Located within the borders of Korkuteli district, Güllük Mountain Termessos National Park is 30 km northwest of Antalya, 23 km from Antalya-Burdur Highway towards Düzlerçamı. The region was declared a national park in 1970 and covers an area of 67,020 decares.
On Güllük Mountain, which rises from the travertine plains of Antalya, are the ruins of the ancient city of Termessos, founded by the Solim, one of the indigenous inhabitants of Anatolia. In the ancient city, which has been preserved until today, tombs from the Hellenistic Period, the king’s road from the Roman Period, agora, theater, cisterns, walls, towers, drainage system are among the most important artifacts. In the region where hills, valleys and canyons are frequently found, there is the Mecene Strait, which reaches a depth of 600 meters.
With an elevation difference of 250-1,665 meters, the national park is not only home to historical values but also a rich flora and fauna. The region is the habitat of the endangered fallow deer. It is also home to mammal species such as mountain goats, caracals, lynxes, rock martens, foxes, rabbits, squirrels, badgers, porcupines, hedgehogs, bats, and rare predators such as eagles and songbirds. The endemic plant species in the Güllük Mountain Termessos National Park, which is covered with red pine forests and maquis plant community, add a special importance and value to the biodiversity of the region. The national park, where camping and picnicking is possible, welcomes tens of thousands of visitors every year. The best time to visit is between April and December. When you visit the national park, you can visit the Güllük Mountain Interactive Natural History Museum, Turkey’s first interactive nature museum, and closely examine the plant and animal species unique to the region, accompanied by technological applications. You can explore the lush green nature of the park with forest walks.
