Stages of Implant Treatment

Stages of Implant Treatment

The stages of implant treatment will serve as a good guide for people who want to have dental implants but are hesitant. With dental implant treatment, many patients have much more robust and durable structures to replace their lost teeth. This ensures that tooth loss is no longer a big problem. Implant treatment is an important procedure that has been used effectively for many years and has become even more effective with much more advanced methods today. We also want to share information about the stages of implant treatment and the healing process.

Examination and Assessment

The stages of implant treatment basically start with examination and assessment. First, your dentist performs the required examinations and evaluates your condition. Thus, it is concluded whether implant treatment is suitable for you. Your dental structure and jawbone are examined for this. Once it is concluded that you are suitable for implant treatment, the second stage starts.

Treatment Planning

The second stage, treatment planning, follows the assessment. In this process, your dentist will determine the best treatment plan for you. Determining the location to place the implant, selecting the type of implant, and planning the other treatment process will be carried out at this stage.

Surgical Operation

This is the stage at which the implant is inserted into the jawbone with surgical methods. Performed under local anaesthesia, this procedure requires a small incision to be made in the jawbone. The implant is placed through the incision. It may take a few months on average for the implant location to recover. Your dentist can sometimes perform implant and temporary denture insertion on the same day.

Recovery Process

For implant treatment, it is very important that the implant is bonded with the jawbone and anchored in place. This process, referred to as osseointegration, may take several months. During this time, temporary dental prostheses are fitted to the patient.

Permanent Dentures or Crowns

After the implant is completely anchored and the healing process is completed, the permanent dentures and crowns are fitted. The dentures are designed to be as close as possible to the person’s original teeth, both aesthetically and functionally.

Contrary to popular belief, the stages of implant treatment are extremely comfortable and simple. When you work with dentists specialized in this field and follow the instructions and recommendations of your dentist during the treatment, you will not experience any issues.
