Dental Implants – Antalya Smile Designs

What Is a Dental Implant?

A Dental Implant is a small biocompatible material, usually made from titanium, that is surgically placed into the jawbone to act as an artificial tooth root.

Dental Implants are a reliable and long-term solution for replacing missing teeth. They are designed to replace the natural tooth root and provide a stable foundation for a Dental Crown, Implant Bridge or full-arch restoration.

For patients who have lost most or all of their teeth, multiple implants can also be used to support a complete fixed dental arch through treatment concepts such as All-on-4 and All-on-6.

Once the implant has successfully integrated with the surrounding bone, it can support a permanent Implant Crown or Implant Bridge, restoring the appearance and function of the missing tooth or teeth.

At Antalya Smile Designs, every implant treatment is individually planned according to your dental condition, bone structure, bite and aesthetic requirements. Our aim is not simply to replace missing teeth, but to restore function, stability and a natural-looking smile.

Why Might You Need Dental Implants?

Dental Implants may be recommended when one or more teeth are missing or when existing teeth cannot be predictably preserved.

Missing teeth can affect more than the appearance of your smile. They can make chewing more difficult and may contribute to changes in your bite and gradual bone loss in areas where teeth are missing.

Depending on your individual condition, implants may be considered for:

  • Single missing teeth
  • Several missing teeth
  • Replacing teeth that cannot be preserved
  • Supporting an implant bridge
  • Replacing a complete dental arch
  • Providing a stable foundation for fixed implant-supported teeth

Your dentist will assess whether implants are appropriate for you following a clinical examination and the necessary X-rays or 3D scans.

How Is Dental Implant Treatment Performed?

Dental implant treatment generally involves two main visits, allowing sufficient time for the implants to integrate with your natural bone before the permanent teeth are fitted.

First Visit – Implant Placement

During your first visit, your Oral Surgeon will complete a detailed examination and review your scans to finalise your treatment plan.

If necessary, teeth that cannot be preserved will be extracted before or during the implant procedure. The dental implants are then carefully positioned within the jawbone according to the planned restoration.

Depending on your individual case, temporary teeth may be provided during the healing period. These may be fixed or removable depending on your bone condition, implant stability and treatment plan.

Healing & Osseointegration – Approximately 3–6 Months

After implant placement, the implants require time to integrate with the surrounding bone. This biological process is known as osseointegration.

The appropriate healing period varies between patients and will be determined by your dental team according to your individual clinical condition.

Second Visit – Permanent Implant Crowns or Bridges

Once the implants have sufficiently integrated and your dentist has confirmed that they are ready for restoration, you will return for your second visit.

At this stage, your permanent Implant Crowns or Implant Bridges will be fitted.

The final restoration is designed according to your desired smile, tooth shape, colour and functional requirements, with careful attention to your bite and overall facial appearance.

Full-Arch Dental Implants

For patients who have lost most or all of the teeth in one jaw, or whose remaining teeth are not suitable for long-term preservation, a full-arch implant restoration may be considered.

Rather than placing an individual implant for every missing tooth, strategically positioned implants can be used to support a complete fixed arch of replacement teeth.

Two commonly used approaches are All-on-4 and All-on-6 implant treatments.

The appropriate solution depends on factors such as your available bone, bone density, bite, anatomy, number and condition of remaining teeth and the type of final restoration planned.

All-on-4 Dental Implants

All-on-4 is a full-arch implant treatment concept in which four strategically positioned Dental Implants are used to support a complete fixed arch of replacement teeth.

The implants are positioned to make effective use of the available bone and provide support for a full arch without necessarily requiring an individual implant for every missing tooth.

All-on-4 may be suitable for patients who:

  • Have lost most or all teeth in an arch
  • Have severely compromised or non-restorable teeth
  • Require a complete fixed dental arch
  • Have suitable bone anatomy for the All-on-4 approach
  • Want a fixed alternative to conventional removable dentures

A temporary fixed or removable restoration may be provided during the healing period, depending on the clinical circumstances. Following successful osseointegration, the temporary restoration is replaced with the planned permanent implant-supported bridge.

The final suitability of All-on-4 can only be determined following clinical examination and appropriate 3D imaging.

All-on-6 Dental Implants

All-on-6 is another full-arch implant treatment concept, using six strategically positioned dental implants to support a complete fixed arch of replacement teeth.

By using six implants rather than four, the treatment can provide additional implant support and load distribution in suitable patients.

All-on-6 may be considered where the patient’s bone condition and anatomy allow for additional implant placement and where the dental team believes that six implants provide an appropriate foundation for the planned restoration.

Potential advantages of All-on-6 include:

  • Six implants supporting one complete arch
  • Increased distribution of chewing forces across multiple implants
  • A stable foundation for a full-arch restoration
  • Suitable option for patients with appropriate bone volume and anatomy
  • Designed to provide a strong and functional fixed restoration

As with All-on-4, the final treatment plan is determined following a detailed examination, assessment of your bite and review of appropriate dental imaging.
