It may take about 1 week to prepare veneers from the moulds. After the veneers are prepared, the procedure begins. After placing the veneer on the tooth, the dentist examines the colour and harmony of the teeth. Then he/she makes the necessary corrections.
What Should Be Considered After Porcelain Veneers?
After the effect of the anaesthesia applied during veneering procedure wears off, the patient can return to daily routine and use eating and drinking functions without any problem. To prolong the life of the veneers;
- Do not chew hard objects.
- Try using your posterior teeth when chewing hard foods.
- If you have problems such as teeth clenching or grinding, use a tray.
- Wear a mouth guard when doing sports.
Possible Disadvantages of Veneers
- The veneer procedure is irreversible.
- Damaged veneers are usually not repairable.
- After veneering procedure, teeth may become more sensitive to hot and cold foods and beverages.
- Veneers may not exactly match the colour of other teeth. In addition, the colour of the veneer cannot be changed once it is in place. Tooth whitening should be completed before getting a veneer.
- Veneers can – although unlikely – dislodge or fall off. Therefore, care should be taken when eating hard foods.
- Porcelain veneers are not suitable for people who clench or grind their teeth. These movements can cause the veneers to crack.
