Gingival curettage is a surgical procedure to removal of pocket lining and junctional epithelium with a curettes. Curettage has been used to treat teeth affected by periodontitis. Curettage is a closed, definitive surgical procedure performed under local anesthesia and aimed at pocket reduction and improving periodontal health. Deep cleaning of diseased and damaged teeth in order to prevent gum disorders is called gingival curettage. The treatment is a very effective method for cleaning tartar and bacteria formed at the points where the gums meet the teeth. Curettage treatment can be confused with scaling. While the tooth surface is cleaned in tartar cleaning, the bacteria that have started to move towards the root of the tooth are cleaned in curettage treatment.

Gingival Curettage: Post-Treatment
Since local anaesthesia is applied during curettage treatment, no pain is felt. There may be short-lasting sensitivity after the procedure. The sensitivity process after curettage treatment can last 6-7 days. After 1 week, the complete healing process takes place. After curettage treatment, it is useful to go to regular control every 6 months.
When Can You Eat and Drink After Curettage Treatment?
Patients can eat and drink 2 hours after curettage treatment. The person can return to work/social life on the same day.
